At last, there's some good news for Fiat's brands

Embattled Fiat Group brands had some positive sales results.
Alfa Romeo expects to sell 3,000 units of the sporty 156 GTA this year, 50 percent more than initially planned.
"The results of the 156 GTA are so promising that we will probably sell more than the 3,500 units of the 147 GTA we were planning," said Daniele Bandiera, head of the Alfa Romeo business unit.
The 147 GTA debuted Thursday and will go on sale in December. Bandiera confirmed that the Sprint, a 2003 four-seat coupe derived from the 156, is planned for 20,000 units a year, "a figure we would probably exceed."
Gianni Coda, head of the Fiat/Lancia/LCV business unit, also was upbeat about Lancia.
"The Phedra is going better than planned," he said. "This year we will sell 3,500 units as anticipated, but demand for next year is pointing to 8,000 to 9,000 units from an initial estimate of 6,000 to 7,000."
Coda confirmed previous projections for the Lancia Thesis: 5,000 units by year end and 25,000 for 2004.
He also said that Lancia would have a new product in 2004, previously an empty year in product planning. Coda said he would identify the product next week.
One possibility is a radical restyling of the Lybra, a project canceled during a product review in late 2001.
On the Fiat Stilo, Coda again lowered the 2002 forecast, down to 205,000 units, but he said that is "due to a two-month delay in the market
introduction of the wagon" body style, which debuts in Paris.
The new station wagon would be about 70,000 of the 260,000 to 270,000 Stilos that Fiat is planning for 2003, but Coda believes that could be surpassed.

Encourageant le succès des 156 GTA (plus de 50% que les prévisions). Cela prouve bien qu'Alfa a réussi son retour dans le secteur des sportives. Avec la 147 GTA, cela devrait se confirmer.
Concernant le Sprint il se confirme que ce sera un modèle a part entière et non pas un coupé 147. En fait le Sprint est dérivé de la 156. D'autres infos donnet une longueur de 4.60 m. Cela sera un vrai coupé 4 places, à la ligne très racée.
