Une ch'tite récap du DeDion issue du TechTalk (sorry Bx <!--emo&

Version 1 – The early tube was lightweight and could fail by jacking the car on it.
Damper mount was through the centre of the tubes diameter.
Most common failure was the small central buttress tearing away from the tube.
Version 2 – Tube seemed to be more substantial than V1, and the car could be jacked up on it OK.
Damper mount was through the centre of the tubes diameter.
Not many failures were heard about.
Version 3 – A second Damper mounting for progressive dampers was added by welding on a sleeve to the bottom of the tube.
The 'through the tube' mounting point was retained (probably to avoid stocking two versions, one for replacements and one for the new dampers).
This version seems to have had many failures, mainly of the weld, or the metal immediately around the weld area, tearing away from the tube.
Version 4 – (Current? Believed to have been introduced around 2002?)
About twice the weight of V3 as the tube wall thickness has been substantially increased.
‘Spare’ Through the tube mounting not fitted (except I believe on request from Arch).
Not heard of any failures of this version.
