It's always best to have a thermostat to controle the oil temp. 0.5 when hot is not much but also not spectacular low after some track use, but you need to be sure that 0.5 on the gauge is 0.5 in reality. Best is to install a " idiot light " or low oil pressure warning light most of those start to work at 0.2 to 0.4 depending of the type.
For the K boy's : you can have the water temp. gauge to work for the oil temp. with a switch.
