The Supersport-R is a 'roller-barrel' engine and will therefore need to be retuned perhaps every 3000 miles (5000km) to ensure smooth running. It is a very different engine to drive from the standard 1.6k - being closer to a race engine than road.

Fitted prices means it includes installation and everything. For the prices shown, you will be able to drive away in the converted car. For std 1.6k to Supersport-R, the base cost is £3495 inc VAT.

I ordered a Caterham 1.6K that will be delivered to me in France next month. In a second stage, I will be interested in the Supersport- R 160bhp upgrade along with a 6 speed gearbox. I would like to know if the engine needs some special maintenance after having been upgraded or if it can be considered as reliable as a standard K series engine.
