In general only the piston rings must be run in, and in case of a new cam do not get below 2000 rpm for about 20 min on the first start-up.
The most important is that the engine is hot when you floor the loud pedal, it is general belief that a lazy run in period makes a lazy engine.
If it would be needed to run an engine in for 5000km there is not a single company car that will survive !!!!!!!!!
